Boy charged after firing BB gun during altercation

BLACKFOOT — One boy is facing criminal charges after he allegedly discharged a BB gun, hitting two other boys in Blackfoot.

It happened on Thursday at 4:50 p.m. The Blackfoot Police Department responded to a report of an “altercation” involving multiple kids in the area of Lawrence Lane.

Police said the suspect has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery.

Cpt. Wes Wheatley said there were some minor to moderate injuries to those hit with the BBs, but nobody was transported to the hospital. EMS checked the victims out on the scene.

Wheatley said those involved ranged from elementary to middle school age. Identities were not released.

Police added that the preliminary investigation shows this was an isolated incident and everyone was known to each other.
