Mabel Reynolds died on Saturday, January 11, at 5:32 a.m. at the Chisholm Court Living. She was born in Alto, Texas, on October 21, 1917, and moved to Abilene in 1942 when her husband was drafted into the Army and sent to a former military base named Camp Barkeley.
Reynolds never left Abilene and lived there for the rest of her life since her husband was sent to Camp Barkeley. She spent most of her life as a nurse and enjoyed helping people until she retired at 65.
Although Reynolds retired, she continued to help administer vaccines to those around her for decades. She was also a member of the Tuscola Methodist Church and the Treasurer of the United Methodist Women for 23 years.
She told KTAB/KRBC the big secret to her longevity in life is her religion, Christianity, and using kindness with others.
The Tuscola United Methodist Church stated they will receive flower donations or a charity of your choice in Mabel’s name.
