Man crashes attempting to flee Madera County sideshow

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested Saturday after attempting to flee a sideshow in Madera County before crashing into another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol announced.

CHP says around 4 p.m. they responded to a sideshow takeover on Highway 145 at Avenue 7 in Ripperdan. Callers reported multiple vehicles blocking the intersection and doing donuts with multiple spectators.

Officers say the original driver of a white Ford Mustang abandoned the car and fled on foot. The back passenger, a 19-year-old from Fresno, got into the driver’s seat and drove away recklessly, eventually crashing into another vehicle.

After the crash, CHP says the 19-year-old fled on foot but was subsequently taken into custody.

Officers say he was booked on suspicion of multiple charges including reckless driving and hit-and-run.
