3 officers injured after vehicle pursuit in Los Banos, 1 arrested

LOS BANOS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Three officers sustained minor injuries following a pursuit that started because of a carjacking in Los Banos, the city’s police department said.

Officers say they were dispatched to the 2200 block of E. Pacheho Blvd. for a report of a stolen vehicle on Friday around 1:20 p.m.

Police learned as the victim began exiting his vehicle, a man in a black sweatshirt pulled him out of the vehicle, forced him to the ground and threatened his life if he got up from the ground. The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.

A short while later, officials say Officer Worrell located the vehicle which resulted in a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle crashed into another vehicle in the area of Overland Avenue and Cabernet Street. The occupant of the victim’s vehicle was transported to the hospital.

While involved in this pursuit, investigators say two patrol vehicles were involved in a collision in the area of Overland Avenue and Santa Paula, resulting in three officers sustaining minor injuries, but requiring medical attention.

Detectives identified the driver and sole occupant of the stolen vehicle as Edgar Figeroa, 27. They say he was placed into custody for various felony charges. Additionally, detectives reviewed Figeroa’s criminal history and noticed he is currently on parole for a prior carjacking.
