SHELLEY — A cat died due to a fire near Shelley, and a man has suffered a substantial loss with his shop.
Shelley-Firth Fire District Chief Randy Adams said the structure fire happened before midnight on Thursday in the area of 1300 North in Bingham County.
Adams said the homeowner called 911 after he saw flames in his shop.
It’s a total loss, as well as the man’s vehicle, which was was parked nearby. It’s unclear how much the estimated damages are, but Adams said many valuables had been collected throughout the years and were stored in the shop.
No injuries were reported; however, a cat died from the fire.
Adams said fire crews were able to clear the scene around 2:30 a.m. Friday. The Idaho Falls Fire Department came and helped with a water tender.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
