Officials say officers were dispatched to the park at 1600 N. Brown St., just before 3 a.m. after receiving a call from a man saying he had been shot in the face.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right side of his face.
Police say the victim told investigators he was walking home when a group of individuals in a vehicle approached him. One of the occupants opened fire, striking him in the face before the vehicle fled the area.
According to officials, the make and model of the vehicle remain unknown at this time.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. Authorities say he is expected to survive.
