On January 4, 2025, at about midnight, Clyde and Baird fire departments responded to the 3800 block of County Road 120, located northeast of Clyde. Once the fire was out, a family friend told KTAB/KRBC that the house was deemed a total loss.
On the following Monday, crews returned to the scene when the fire reignited around 10:00 a.m. They were joined by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Clyde Police. Smoke was visible from miles away as crews worked to extinguish the remaining hot spots.
KTAB/KRBC has received statements from the family through a family friend, though there is no official word from authorities at this time.
The family friend said they could not comment on the cause of the fire, as it is still under active investigation. The family has requested that no one visit the property.
The friend shared that three people were inside the home when the fire occurred. Two occupants, whose names they wish to keep private, were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The third individual, 58-year-old Deborah “Debbie” Kay Faircloth, has been identified as the sole fatality of the fire.
A memorial gathering in her honor will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Baird.
Faircloth’s obituary on the Parker Jacobs Funeral Home website offers additional details about the service and links to send flowers to the family.
