Abilene’s safest day of 2024

AFD shared the data, showing that December 15 was the safest day, while January was the busiest month.

The fire department shared some data on the numbers they reported in 2024:

• AFD responded to 18,188 calls in 2024.
• December 15 was the “safest” day, with only 29 calls.
• January was their busiest month for structure fire calls.
• Wednesday, August 17, and Wednesday, September 18, were tied for days with the most calls at 74.
• Station 1 reported the most calls, with 2,779 calls.
• On average, Wednesday was the busiest day of their week.
• The highest call volume by hour was reported in the afternoon.
• The lowest call volume by the hour was at 5 a.m.
