
Next week, there’s a chance we could see snowflakes flying across the Big Country, as an Arctic front pushes through most of the Midwest and Great Plains.

As shown, when the vortex strengthens, it gets cooler, and Arctic air shifts southward. Why did I explain this? Well, back in 2021, “Winter Storm Uri,” or as others may refer to it, “Snowmageddon,” took place. While nothing this severe is in the current forecast, the same setup could still happen next week with minor impacts reaching as far South as the Big Country.
The National Weather Service is confident in the timing of this Arctic Front. Expect the temperatures to drop severely overnight on Sunday and into Monday. The highs should consistently be within the upper 30s and 40s; however, the lows are a bit trickier to forecast this far out.
