
The following is an update from Idaho State Police.
UCON — Idaho State Police is investigating two crashes that occurred at 7:40 a.m. on US 20 near milepost 315, at the Ucon overpass.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Idaho Falls in a white 2006 F150, was traveling eastbound on US 20 when he lost control on the icy roadway, crossed over the median and struck a white 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 42-year-old man from Rigby. Occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and were checked out by emergency responders.
The second crash occurred at 7:46 a.m. just before the Ucon exit. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Rexburg in a 2022 RAM 3500, rear-ended a 2002 Ford Explorer, driven by a 42-year-old female from Rexburg. The Explorer was pushed into a 2024 Subaru Outback, driven by a 35-year-old female from Rigby. The Outback was pushed into a 2020 Kia Telluride, driven by a 49-year-old male from Rigby. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the explorer was transported to a local hospital.
Idaho Falls Fire Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the incidents.
Traffic was diverted off the Ucon exit until 9:18 a.m. when the lanes were opened back up.
