‘It’s a beautiful little community here’

Holly Pond’s ‘Christmas Cards in the Park’ happening now

HOLLY POND, Ala. – The Town of Holly Pond kicked off the holiday season with its annual Christmas celebration Saturday, Dec. 7, at Governor’s Park.

Mayor Carla Hart got things going with the lighting the town’s Christmas tree.

“We are here at our town’s Governor’s Park behind town hall. We are doing our annual luminaries and tree lighting for the community. It’s a beautiful little community here. We are all family, we feel like, and we like to do things to bring people together,” Hart said at the event. “We have luminaries around our track and trails that the Civitan (Club) and Jr. Civitan (Club) put out for us. We have Cards in the Park that many businesses and individuals have brought out. We have free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. We have Santa for the children. Music is being played by the high school Bronco band. We missed out on the elementary chorus this year. We send them our blessing and we hope to see them here next year. We are a blessed little town to spend this Christmas together.”

Giant Christmas cards made by members of the Holly Pond community are displayed throughout the park, as well as luminaries in memory and in honor of loved ones along the walkways.

The display will remain in the park throughout December for the community to enjoy.
