POND, Ala.
– The seniors at the Holly Pond Senior Center celebrated their Christmas party lunch on Friday, Dec. 6. WVTM13 Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson (a Holly Pond native) celebrated with the seniors as a surprise guest. The Holly Pond Bronco Band also attended the party and played Christmas music as entertainment. Homemade Thanksgiving-style food and desserts were served.

Band Director Steven Porter talked about Christmas music and what it means to him.

“I love Christmas and family. I like Christmas carols. I love what Holly Pond does with the lighting of the tree,” he smiled. “We added more Christmas carols with the band playing kind of like a Salvation Army band. That’s what I miss. You go into a department store, and you see and hear it from the parking lot walking up. You hear the bell, and you hear the band playing. It is just standard Christmas carols. Nothing fancy, just Christmas carols. My mom and dad both played piano so I can remember as a kid, we always sang Christmas carols.”

The seniors smiled, tapped their feet and clapped while listening to the band play.
