CHUBBUCK (KPVI) — Christmas is quickly approaching, and a local family is getting ready for the holiday in a fun way. The Decker family of Chubbuck has put up a mailbox for Santa.
This is the third year that they have put out the mailbox, so they can receive letters for Santa. In 2023, they received around 400 letters from southeast Idaho to northern Utah. They hope that they can receive more letters this year.
Wayne and Sabrina Decker told KPVI why they erected the festive mailbox.
“We just wanted something fun for kids to do and families so three years ago we started it and its just grown from there. The second year we had 300 letters and last year we had 400 letters. We have gotten letters from Utah, I think families, they have families up here for Thanksgiving and they get together and write letters, so we have had quite a few from out of town.”
If you would like to drop by to drop a letter off into the Mailbox for Santa, stop by at 4832 Wiltshire Street in Chubbuck.
If you want to get a letter back from Santa, place a return address on the letter.
Santa’s mailbox will be up until Christmas Eve but If you want a response back, get letters dropped off by Dec. 18.
