IDAHO FALLS — A man with multiple warrants has been arrested after he allegedly tried to get away from police.

Just before 10:30 a.m. Friday, Idaho State Police troopers pulled over a 34-year-old man driving a 2006 Mazda 5 for a turn signal violation on U.S. Highway 20 near Old Butte Road in Idaho Falls.

Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as Rulon Olson.

When the trooper discovered that Olson had several warrants, Olson drove away, they said. The troopers pursued him.

During the pursuit, Olson allegedly rammed a patrol car. Troopers stopped the Mazda, but Olson ran to a nearby field.

Troopers quickly arrested Olson and booked him into Bonneville County Jail on probable cause for felony eluding, felony child endangerment, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, damage to state property, resisting and obstructing officers and felony warrants.

A 26-year-old woman and a child were passengers in the Mazda. They both sustained minor injuries. They received medical treatment and have been released.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Pocatello Police Department assisted in the incident.

ISP continues to investigate.
