IDAHO FALLS — A red GMC Denali truck crashed into a school bus after colliding with a silver Nissan Rogue at the intersection of West Sunnyside Road and South Boulevard Thursday afternoon.
No children were on board the Teton Stage Lines bus, which was en route to pick up children from the Monticello Montessori Charter School in Ammon.
According to Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Clements, two individuals — the adult male driver and a female adult passenger — in the Denali were transported to a local hospital.
The wreck occurred at 2:32 p.m.
The bus was stopped in the left turn lane on Boulevard, preparing to turn east onto Sunnyside Road.
Clements said the truck was headed eastbound on Sunnyside when it attempted to turn left onto Boulevard and failed to yield to a silver Nissan Rogue traveling straight on Boulevard.
The GMC and the Nissan collided and ricocheted off each other, with the truck smashing into the bus and the Nissan crashing into a nearby landscape wall.
The two commuter vehicles were totaled.
The bus and Nissan drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles and did not require additional medical treatment at the scene.
The GMC driver received a citation for “failure to yield.”
