AMMON — A local organization is inviting veterans and the community to a special program in which three pianos will be played simultaneously with a drummer.

The Idaho Falls Music Club will hold a patriotic celebration for veterans on Monday, Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day. The free concert will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church next to the Ammon City Building at 2055 South Ammon Road. Refreshments will follow.

“It’s for our veterans, whether they’re in retirement homes or in the community. We just want them to know that we love them. We want to honor them. We want to pay tribute to them,” said Beverly Beck, a member of the Idaho Falls Music Club.

The club’s teachers will be the performers, along with a drummer. The teachers will switch out who plays between songs.

EastIdahoNews.com was invited on Thursday to see the teachers practice at the Piano Gallery in Ammon. Watch the video player above.

“There’s about 18 of us that are getting together to do this,” Beck said. “So it’s going to be three pianos going at once with two teachers on each piano for each song.”

All of the music will be patriotic, like “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “God Bless America.”

“Music that symbolizes our patriotism for our flag, for our country, for our fellow man, for God, for America. Especially in today’s world, we just need to really celebrate what we have, the freedoms we have,” Beck said, tearing up. “And it’s because of these men and women that give their time.”

The federal holiday means a lot to Beck. She’s had relatives serve, and she told EastIdahoNews.com that she has a place in her heart for veterans.

“They’ve got so much wisdom. They’ve got so much love and humility because they do this selflessly, because they love their country and we just need a lot more of that,” she said.

There will be a flag ceremony, and “The Star-Spangled Banner” will also be sung. All those who have served will be recognized, and a tribute will be presented by the “Quilts of Valor.”

Beck hopes that the concert will be filled with gratitude. She invites everyone to come out.

“We just want them to come to celebrate and to honor our veterans and to show that we love them,” she added.
