CHUBBUCK – The Bannock County coroner has released the identity of a man who died at a busy supermarket.
Darrell Johnson, 53, of Chubbuck died inside the Walmart at 4240 Yellowstone Avenue on Wednesday evening. The emergency call came in just after 7 p.m.
“I extend my sincere condolences to his family as they navigate the challenges presented by this loss,” Coroner Torey Danner said.
Authorities responded to the scene and found Johnson had fallen down at the store, Chubbuck Police Chief Nick Sasser said. People nearby assisted Johnson immediately upon his fall.
“EMS responded, and unfortunately, they were not able to save the individual’s life,” Sasser said.
While the investigation from Chubbuck police is ongoing, they haven’t found anything that “led us to believe that there was anything nefarious that took place,” Sasser said.
A GoFundMe campaign was started to assist Johnson’s family with funeral expenses.
