Warren Dragons slay Huskies in D-10 4A semifinal

ERIE, PA (WJET)–Harbor Creek’s five-point advantage heading into the break just fueled Warren’s fire.

The Dragons came back and doubled their score and ultimately just one single point was what pushed them to the finals.

JET24-FOX66 reporter Ashley Kaiser asked, “What can you say for their grit. Just not letting up and just fighting for every chance they can get.”

“Yeah, I think it’s all that… the grit. Harbor Creek, they are well coached. They play hard. We knew they were going to be physical, and we just battled it out. We knew that it would be one possession at a time. We knew that it would come down to the last possession.”

Lisa LaVan, Warren head coach

“Our identity I think is defense because we don’t have someone who can just go and score so, we have to be aggressive, and we have to get those steals and know that we have to make our defense our offense. So, we just always rely on that.”

Samantha Ruhlman, Warren senior guard

JET24-FOX66 reporter Ashley Kaiser asked, “Tell me, what’s your reaction heading back to the D-10 championship?”

“Amazing, I’ve been there twice, and this year has really been our goal to get back there so it just feels amazing especially after we lost to them last year and coming back and winning this year is just amazing…It’s always been a hard game between us you know I’d say were maybe a bit of a rival but props to them. They gave us a great game.”

Halle Kuzminski, Warren senior forward

Warren will return to the D-10 4A championship game and with hopes to nail down their 5th district title.
