Cheyenne placed under high wind watch for blustery weekend ahead

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne area residents should be prepared for a very windy weekend, according to report from the National Weather Service.

The NWS has declared a hig hwind watch for Cheyenne that begins at 2 p.m. and continues until Monday morning at 5 a.m.

Today’s weather is likely to be sunny, with a high temperature near 52 degrees. Strong winds will move in from the west at 25-35 mph throughout the day, with gusts reaching speeds exceeding 45 mph.

After sundown, temperatures can be expected to drop to a low just below freezing, at around 30 degrees. Winds will likely stay unchanged through the night.

Sunday will be even warmer, with a high of 56 degrees. Wind speeds are expected to reach upwards of 40 mph throughout the day.

Sunday night will see temperatures drop to a low of around 37 degrees, while the wind picks up strength; the NWS reports gusts of upwards of 50 mph in Sunday’s late night hours.
