RODEO — The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office lifted a shelter-in-place alert issued earlier Tuesday evening in connection with unspecified police activity in a neighborhood.
Around 5:15 p.m., Rodeo-Hercules Fire District firefighters responded to a medical emergency call in the 1200 block of Mariposa Street.
At 6:15 p.m., a social-media account for the county’s community warning system shared word at of an alert affecting addresses in the 300 block of Vallejo Avenue and the 1200 block of Mariposa Street.
The alert urged residents living south of San Pablo Avenue, east of Parker Avenue, west of California Street and north of Seventh Street to go inside, close windows and doors, stay off phones and avoid calling 911 unless reporting life-threatening emergency.
Just after 8 p.m., a follow-up social-media post lifted the alert. A sheriff’s spokesman did not immediately return an e-mail requesting comment on the police activity.
