Arkansas star Treylon Burks declares for 2022 NFL Draft

Junior wide receiver Treylon Burks of the Arkansas Razorbacks is considered one of the most-lethal wide receivers in the nation.

The 6-foot-3 wideout made sweet music with quarterback K.J. Jefferson during a surprising regular season for Arkansas.

Burks is now taking his game to the professional level. The 21-year-old Arkansas native took to social media to announce that he’s foregoing his senior season and has declared for the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

In no way should this come as a surprise. Burks has ascended big time since he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2019 out of Warren High School in Arkansas. For many, he has what it takes to be a true No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL.

“Finally, Burks’ versatility should only add value to his NFL Draft stock. Although Burks took most of his snaps out of the slot, he has experience out wide and in the backfield. Arkansas uses him in motion, and there are even examples of him aligned on the end of the offensive line as if he were a tight end,” Pro Football Network noted in its scouting report of Burks.

The ability to play both on the outside and in the slot is big in today’s NFL. We’ve seen the likes of Justin Jefferson and Deebo Samuel excel in the hybrid roles in recent seasons. There’s no reason to believe Burks won’t follow suit.

Treylon Burks stats

  • 2019: 29 receptions, 475 yards, zero touchdowns
  • 2020: 51 receptions, 820 yards, seven touchdowns
  • 2021: 67 receptions, 1,123 yards, 11 touchdowns (112 rushing yards, 1 TD)

As you can see, Burks has improved each season with Arkansas. He’s a dynamic threat in the passing game, and someone who might be able to make an immediate impact.

In our latest mock draft, we have Treylon Burks going No. 23 overall to the wide receiver-needy Detroit Lions. However, there’s a darn good chance he’ll shoot up the draft boards with a great pro day performance and while showing out at the NFL Scouting Combine.
