The OpenID Foundation is pleased to welcome David Henstock, Head of Identity Products at Visa to the board of directors as a sustaining member.
Visa joins an accomplished group of identity thought leaders including, Cisco, Google, KDDI, Microsoft, NRI Secure, Okta, Ping Identity, Verizon and Yahoo Ad Tech. The Board is deeply committed to ensuring that the Foundations’ standards and programs are poised to meet the needs of a rapidly changing identity landscape. OpenID Foundations standards and programs already enable billions of users and millions of applications, and market demand indicates an even wider range of use cases will drive rapid adoption in the years ahead. Success to date and going forward is directly a result of the active engagement and investment by leading organizations and their representatives, like Visa.
“We are delighted to have Visa and David join the OpenID Foundation Board at this inflection point in the global identity ecosystem,” said Gail Hodges, Executive Director of the OpenID Foundation. “Visa’s leadership in global payments and identity services as well as their longstanding commitment to standards will be of great value as we tailor our strategy to this moment. I look forward to working with David and the other members of the Board to define and build the foundations that will give users, businesses, and governments secure and interoperable identity ecosystems.”
“Digital identity delivers innovation to existing and new use cases but achieving its potential requires industries to align on the common goal of establishing global standards,” said David Henstock, Head of Identity Products at Visa. “I look forward to working with OpenID Foundation members to achieve this goal to bring greater awareness and adoption of digital identity in payments.”
