Nvidia confirms new RTX 2060 12GB launching this month

After months of rumours and speculation, Nvidia has now confirmed the RTX 2060 12GB. This new SKU includes extra CUDA cores and more memory compared to the original RTX 2060, which should bring a small bump in performance.

With the rollout of the new GeForce 497.09 graphics driver, Nvidia confirmed in the patch notes that this is the first driver to support the RTX 2060 12GB. The company later offered additional clarification to The Verge, confirming the new GPU.

Based on the same TU106 GPU (12nm) used on the RTX 2060 Super, the new Nvidia RTX 2060 12GB can boost up to 1650MHz, packing 2176 CUDA cores, 64 1st-gen RT cores and 136 2nd-gen Tensor cores. The GPU is paired with 12GB of memory clocked at 14Gbps across a 192-bit memory bus, offering maximum memory bandwidth of 336 GB/s. The TDP is set at 185W, roughly 10W over the RTX 2060 Super.

As you would expect from an RTX GPU, features like ray-tracing acceleration and DLSS are supported. This graphics card is due to release on the 7th of December, but Nvidia has not revealed any MSRP. We’ll have to wait for the card to hit retail to see how much it will end up costing.

KitGuru says: Considering the MSRP for the RTX 3060, we would expect the RTX 2060 12GB to come in at around $299 or less. However, given the current GPU supply and demand situation, we doubt it will be available at this price.
