STANFORD – Stanford finished this season with a seventh straight loss, 45-14 to No. 5 Notre Dame Saturday night at Stanford Stadium.
The Cardinal finished 3-9, its worst record since going 1-11 in 2006. It was especially non-competitive in its last four games, getting outscored 173-46, including 138-32 in three home games.
Stanford QB Tanner McKee had just 42 passing yards through three quarters before finishing 20 of 25 for 172 yards. The Cardinal added 22 rushing attempts for 55 yards as it was held to 14 points or less for the sixth time in seven games.
The Fighting Irish (11-1) made one final case for inclusion in the College Football Playoff, scoring their final TD with 58 seconds left. Jack Coen completed 26 of 35 passes for 345 yards as Notre Dame led 24-0 at halftime and 38-7 after three quarters.
