A Palo Alto woman who went missing while hiking was found safe after spending two nights in freezing and snowy conditions, the Fresno County sheriff’s office said.
Jolly Bose, 49, had been reported missing after she became separated from companions on Sunday afternoon on a ridge near Kaiser Pass, above Huntington Lake in the southern Sierra Nevada.
The two-day search ended Tuesday afternoon when a helicopter crew sighted her near Ershim Lake, which is around 9,000 feet elevation. The lake is about 4½ miles south of where she was last seen.
She was reunited with her family and required no medical attention, the sheriff’s office said.
During the time she was missing, overnight temperatures were in the teens and 5 inches of snow fell in the area, the agency said.
