Memphis Grizzlies sign Jaren Jackson to $105M extension

Jaren Jackson and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the clock with a four-year, $105 million extension on Monday, according to reports.

Jackson’s reps at CAA shared the details of the contract as the 6 p.m. ET NBA deadline Monday approached for teams to sign players from the 2018 draft class to extensions.

Jackson, who played at Michigan State, was the fourth overall pick in the 2018 draft, selected between Hawks guard Trae Young and Mavericks forward Luka Doncic, both of whom signed big deals this summer. Doncic was picked No. 3 by Atlanta and traded for Young.

The top pick in 2018 was Suns center Deandre Ayton, but negotiations with Phoenix have not yet produced the type of lucrative deal the big man is hoping to receive.

A versatile forward who quickly established himself as a 3-point shooter, Jackson played in only 11 regular-season games last season because of a knee injury. He was able to play in the first-round playoff series against the Utah Jazz and averaged 13.6 points.

The 22-year-old has averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for the Grizzlies since entering the NBA.
