NFL waiver wire pickups: Top tips for Week 4 fantasy action

It’s time to hit the NFL waiver wire to prepare for Fantasy Football Week 4. So, here are some top Week 4 waiver wire pickups to target to enhance your fantasy lineup.

These waiver wire pickups are based on their Week 4 matchups, as well as their potential to take on a larger role as the season progresses.

Top Waiver Wire Pickups: Fantasy Football Week 4

Jacoby Brissett, quarterback, Indianapolis Colts

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

If your current fantasy quarterback is struggling, or his name is Carson Wentz, Brissett is a good waiver wire pickup heading into Week 4. He scored more fantasy points in his last game than multiple other starting quarterbacks, and he will be filling in for Tua Tagovailoa for two more games at the least.

Chuba Hubbard, running back, Carolina Panthers

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Houston Texans

If Hubbard is on the waiver wire, he is a top pickup with Christian McCaffrey out (hamstring) for at least one game. Hubbard produced 79 total yards on 55% of the Panthers’ offensive snaps in Week 3. For now, Hubbard makes for a serviceable flex play while CMC is sidelined.

Peyton Barber, running back, Las Vegas Raiders

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders

Out of nowhere, Barber came in like a wrecking ball and led the Raiders’ backfield with 111 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries. Out-touching Kenyan Drake with Josh Jacob sidelined, Barber could proceed to pile up fantasy points if Jacobs continues to miss any action.

Cordarrelle Patterson, running back, Atlanta Falcons

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants
Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Much to the dismay of those who roster Mike Davis, Patterson continues to see plenty of touches, after last recording 102 total yards. He’s worth adding in PPR formats as a waiver wire pickup if your current running backs are coming up short.

Tim Patrick, wide receiver, Denver Broncos

NFL: New York Jets at Denver Broncos
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Patrick led all of the Broncos wide receivers in fantasy points in Week 3 turning five catches into 98 yards. While Jerry Jeudy remains out, Patrick will continue to see his role increase, especially with KJ Hamler done for the year, making him a top waiver wire pickup for Week 4.

Terrace Marshall Jr., wide receiver, Carolina Panthers

NFL: New York Jets at Carolina Panthers
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Marshall is a deep Week 4 waiver wire target after last turning five targets into four catches for 48 yards. He was the clear No. 2 WR option behind D.J. Moore with Robby Anderson being practically invisible. Marshall should continue to be quite involved in the passing game when Carolina heads to Dallas in Week 4.

Brandon Aiyuk, wide receiver, San Francisco 49ers

NFL: Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

After two terrible fantasy performances in Weeks 1 and 2, Aiyuk may have been tossed to the waivers. Making a fantasy comeback in his last game, Aiyuk makes a top waiver wire pickup for Week 4 heading into a favorable matchup against Seattle’s sixth-worst passing defense.

Hunter Renfrow, wide receiver Las Vegas Raiders

NFL: Baltimore Ravens at Las Vegas Raiders
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

After producing 77 yards and one touchdown, Renfrow is worth a waiver wire pickup as the Raiders head to face the LA Chargers in Week 4. This game will likely force Derek Carr to air it out, which means Renfrow should receive plenty of targets.

Dawson Knox, tight end, Buffalo Bills

NFL: Washington Football Team at Buffalo Bills
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

For those needing a better fantasy TE, hit the waiver wire up and pick up Knox. He has scored a TD in back-to-back games and was last targeted five times which resulted in 49 yards. To sum things up, Knox scored more fantasy points than both Rob Gronkowski and Darren Waller did in Week 3.

Tyler Conklin, tight end, Minnesota Vikings

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Conklin will be a top waiver wire tight end target for Week 4 following a nice seven-catch, 70-yard, one-TD performance in his last game. Facing Cleveland in Week 4, Conklin will have another opportunity to score plenty of fantasy points as his chemistry with Kirk Cousins evolves.
