SAN JOSE – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Friday near CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, police said.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has not released the motorcyclist’s identity; however, a GoFundMe campaign has identified him as Will Sivongxay.
The crash was reported at about 8:30 a.m. near South 7th Street and East Alma Avenue, the San Jose Police Department said in a news release.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on South 7th Street when he collided with a blue 2017 Ford truck that had pulled out in front of him while attempting to turn left from the west shoulder of the road.
The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The death marked the 44th traffic fatality of the year on city streets.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
According to the GoFundMe campaign, Sivongxay was on his way to work when the collision occurred. He leaves behind a wife, three children and an unborn daughter. The campaign can be viewed at gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-wil-sivongxay.
