A 58-year-old Vallejo man, a suspect in an Interstate 80 shooting in Vallejo earlier this week, has been arrested and jailed, California Highway Patrol officials in Solano County said late Thursday.
After an investigation by detectives from the Golden Gate Division, officers identified Stoney Curtis as the suspect.
Serving a search warrant, the detectives arrested Curtis without incident. He was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle Sunday evening.
In a press release, CHP Sgt. Raul Gonzalez said that officers assigned to the Solano area were notified notified of a hit-and-run collision in the area of westbound I-80, west of Magazine Street, at 6:04 p.m.
Officers responded and found an abandoned vehicle. They subsequently discovered the vehicle had been the target of a freeway shooting, and the driver had fled the scene. Officers obtained video of the freeway shooting from the cameras of a third party traveling in the area at the time of the shooting.
Gonzalez said the shooting remains under investigation, and CHP-Solano officials seek any information from the public. Call the CHP Investigation Tip line, 917-4491, if you have relevant information.
