(SPOILER ALERT: The following post contains results from the season finale of “The Voice,” which has already aired on the East coast):
Just two nights after “American Idol” crowned its latest champion, TV’s other big singing contest, “The Voice,” celebrated its 20th winner during a glitzy, jam-packed grand finale.
All of which had us wondering: Wouldn’t it be cool to see the two shows stage a crossover competition and have America pick an ultimate champion of champions? Why not a summertime vocal throw-down?
Of course, it will never happen, so let’s stop daydreaming and get back Tuesday’s important business on “The Voice.” The night began with five finalists — Rachel Mac, Cam Anthony, Victor Solomon, Kenzie Wheeler and Jordan Matthew Young — all eyeing that goofy microphone trophy. But at the end of it all, host Carson Daly could only call out one name.
And the winner is …
Cam Anthony!
Cam, a 19-year-old native of Philadelphia, beat out runner-up Kenzie to secure the title. Jordan took third place, while Rachel finished fourth and Victor was fifth.
The finale, as usual, was a star-studded affair. Original “Voice” coach Adam Levine returned to the stage with his band Maroon 5 to perform their latest hit single, “Beautiful Mistakes.” Also appearing were Justin Bieber, Lauren Daigle, Ben Platt, Gwen Stefani & Saweetie, Thomas Rhett, Snoop Dogg & DJ Battlecat, One Republic and Kelsea Ballerini.
