Man shot to death as gunfire breaks out in Sunnyvale

A 31-year-old Sunnyvale man died after gunfire in that city early Saturday, and police have arrested another Sunnyvale man as a suspect, authorities said.

In a police statement, Sunnyvale police said officers responded to the 600 block of Tasman Drive around 10:18 a.m. after reports a shooting victim was there. They found him there and provided medical aid until an ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital, police said.

He died there. Authorities did not identify him Saturday.

Investigators later Saturday arrested 32-year-old Natig Manashirov on suspicion of murder. They tracked him down after witnesses at the scene reported hearing multiple gun shots.

Police cited the investigation and did not release any other details. They urged anyone with information to contact Det. Matthew Hutchison or Det. Corinne Abernathy at 408-730-7100.

The homicide was the first one in Sunnyvale since Aug. 16.
