AC Transit bus struck in Downtown Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — Police were at the scene of a shooting that damaged at least one vehicle and startled downtown visitors, authorities said Thursday.

Just before 7 p.m., officers received reports of a possible shooting as well as ShotSpotter activity near 15th Street and Broadway.

When officers arrived, they found bullet casings and at least two vehicles, including an AC Transit bus, that suffered damage after being struck several times.

Police did not immediately confirm reports of a person seen firing shots from a vehicle slowly moving south along Broadway. or of a related scene along a nearby stretch of Telegraph Avenue along Latham Square.

Officers blocked off westbound 15th Street traffic at Franklin Street, and along at least one lane of Broadway, and were working to recover footage from at least one surveillance camera in the area.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
