State suspends Palo Alto liquor store’s license

PALO ALTO – State authorities have indefinitely suspended a Palo Alto liquor store’s liquor license for allegedly selling alcohol to 10 minors.

Ernie’s Liquors at 3870 El Camino Real sold alcohol to the minors between September 2019 and September 2020, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said in a news release Wednesday. One of the minors was 15 years old.

The agency said the notice of suspension was posted Tuesday.

“Their license has been ordered revoked, with the revocation stayed for six months to allow for an ownership transfer approved by the ABC,” the agency said. “Meanwhile, the license is immediately suspended indefinitely, and alcohol sales are prohibited and will not be allowed at the store.”

The agency said the license can be permanently revoked if it is not transferred within the next six months.
