SAN JOSE – A man was shot and killed in San Jose on New Year’s Eve, marking the city’s 44th homicide of the year, police said.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Rose Lane, near Rose Avenue and South Capitol Avenue, about 11:25 a.m. for a report of a person shot, said San Jose police Officer Steven Aponte in a news release. They found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Aponte said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity once it has been confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
No suspects have been identified or arrested, and the motive and circumstances are under investigation, Aponte said.
