The crash was reported about 5:35 p.m. near Monterey Road and East Middle Avenue, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a news release. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said an initial investigation determined that the victim was trying to cross Monterey Road near the 76 gas station north of East Middle Avenue when he was hit by a red compact car.

The victim fell to the ground and was struck by a light-colored pickup truck, police said.

Police said both vehicles left the scene and were last seen traveling southbound on Monterey Road.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office once it has been confirmed and his next of kin is notified, police said.
