Suspect sought in Millbrae bank robbery

MILLBRAE — Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Wells Fargo bank branch in Millbrae on Monday morning.

Just before 10 a.m., the suspect walked into the branch at 490 Broadway and handed a demand note to a teller, said Sgt. Andre Moniot of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in a news release. No weapons were seen or mentioned during the robbery.

Moniot said the teller handed over an undisclosed sum of money and the suspect left the scene on foot.

The suspect was described as a Latino man, about 6 feet tall and 35 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing black clothing.

The sheriff’s office obtained images of the suspect from security cameras and alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies, Moniot said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was also alerted and later opened its own investigation into the robbery.

Anyone with information related to the case can call the sheriff’s office anonymous tip line at 800-547-2700.
