Giants fire OL coach Marc Colombo after fist fight with head coach Joe Judge

New York Giants offensive line coach Marc Colombo lasted a mere 10 games in that role after first-year head coach Joe Judge brought him on from the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants shockingly fired the assistant coach on Wednesday.

There wasn’t much more information on the firing initially outside of reports that Judge had taken on more of a role working with the offensive line. That could have played a role in the move.

Yes, you read that right Colombo reportedly got into a fist fight with his head coach Wednesday morning.

That’s definitely one way to get fired.

Veteran offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo will replace Marc Colombo in that role. He’s served as an offensive line coach in the NFL pretty much for the past 17 seasons.

DeGuglielmo’s first role in the pros was as an offensive assistant for these Giants from 2004-08 under then-head coach Tom Coughlin. He also worked with Judge in New England from 2014-15. There’s obviously a built-in relationship.

New York had planned on bringing DeGuglielmo in to work with Marc Colombo. Obviously, Colombo did not take a liking to that.

The Giants’ offensive line had been struggling under Colombo. That included Daniel Jones getting sacked 31 times in 10 games.

Despite boasting a 3-7 record, the Giants are just 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. They have a chance to actually win this division. If changing offensive line coaches following Wednesday’s drama plays a role moving forward, firing Marc Colombo makes sense.

We will obviously have more information on this story. Lordy, I hope there are tapes of the fight!

Stay tuned for more.
