OAKLAND — Police were responding to a fatal shooting in the city’s Iveywood neighborhood and a double shooting in the city’s Havenscourt neighborhood that left one victim shot in the head Monday night, authorities said.

Around 10:40 p.m., officers received reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 9900 block of Sunnyside Avenue. When officers responded and arrived, they found a teenage male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 9800 block of Sunnyside. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Oakland police officer.

Shortly before 10:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity near the 1700 block of Church Street.

When officers arrived within minutes, they found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the head, and another suffering from at least one gunshot wound. One of the two victims was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and was listed in stable condition late Monday.

Other officers arrived to assist with traffic control, while firefighters and paramedics also responded to treat the victims.

The shootings do not initially appear to be related.
