Police investigate homicide at Berkeley home after shooting call

BERKELEY — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man at a Berkeley hills home after a shooting was reported there Saturday afternoon, according to police and witnesses.

Police were called just after 4 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Glen Avenue, north of the Berkeley Rose Garden, Sgt. Craig Lindenau said. Dispatch logs indicate that a shooting had been reported, but Lindenau declined to confirm any cause of death.

At least three people were escorted from the home — which was cordoned off by police tape — for questioning, but police said they were not under arrest.

Additional details were not immediately available Saturday afternoon. Berkeley police were expected to be on scene for most of Saturday evening.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact the Berkeley police homicide detail  at 510-981-5741, or police dispatch at 510-981-5900, and reference case 2020-44589.
