Man wounded, child injured in West Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — A man was shot Monday afternoon while driving in West Oakland and his 5 1/2-year-old daughter who was also in the vehicle was injured by glass fragments, authorities said.

Police said the man wounded was not an intended target.  He was wounded and his daughter injured after  a shooting erupted between other people, at least one of whom was in a vehicle and the vehicle they were in was hit by some of the bullets.

The shooting was reported at about 2:29 p.m. in the 2500 block of Adeline Street.  The vehicle with the man and his child ended up in the 2700 block of Adeline. They were taken to hospitals but their conditions were not immediately available.

No other injuries were reported.

No motive has been determined yet for the shooting  and no arrests have been made.
