DISCOVERY BAY — Four people, including two flown by medical helicopter to hospitals, were injured after a T-bone collision on Highway 4, authorities said Sunday afternoon.
At 1 p.m., East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of the collision at the highway’s intersection with Discovery Bay Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found a blue Toyota pickup truck and a silver Ford Mustang with substantial damage. Firefighters learned from preliminary information that the truck was driving at about 65 mph before it struck a car turning onto the boulevard.
Two people at the scene were treated before a medical helicopter landed at a nearby lot and flew them to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, while two others suffered minor injuries.
Westbound lanes of Highway 4 were shut down briefly, but reopened to traffic soon after tow trucks cleared the damaged vehicles and no Sig-alert was issued.
