Chomp! It’s Shark Fest time at Bay Area drive-ins

Shark Week has arrived and even our drive-in theaters aren’t safe.

Yes, the annual celebration of our favorite finned feeding machine always brings special programming to the Discovery Channel (here’s what you need to know about that).

But now the West Wind Drive-In Theaters are getting in on the fun, bringing Shark Fest to its sites across the country, including San Jose, Concord and Sacramento, Aug. 7-16.

West Wind theaters during that stretch will show double features including such fin-tastic classics as “Jaws” (natch!) “The Meg,” “Deep Blue Sea,” “47 Meters Down” and more. But the feeding frenzy doesn’t end there.

Go to the digital theater chain’s website and you will find information on how you can enter a “Baby Shark” dance contest (the prize includes free movie tickets), as well as suggestions for shark-themed costumes, car decorations and snacks. (We don’t know exactly what constitutes an appropriate snack for a shark movie, and we don’t want to).

General admission tickets for shows are $8.25, $1.75 for kids ages 5-11. Get tickets, showtimes and more information at
