DUI suspect arrested after multi-vehicle Peninsula crash

PACIFICA — A San Francisco man was in county jail after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection with a weekend multi-vehicle collision, authorities said Sunday.

Around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, officers and North County Fire Authority firefighters responded to a report of the collision on Highway 1 at Rockaway Beach Avenue, and found three damaged vehicles, police said.

One driver was unhurt, but another was treated for injuries and taken to an area hospital for further treatment, police said.

A third driver, identified as Jose Rivera, 30, was treated and found showing signs of being under the influence, and soon arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and causing injury.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries and later admitted, police said.
