Vehicle sought in fatal Gilroy weekend hit-and-run

GILROY — Police were asking for the public’s help after a fatal weekend hit-and-run collision, authorities said Sunday.

At 11:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to reports of a major injury collision at West Tenth and Eigleberry streets, Gilroy police said in a statement.

When officers arrived, joining firefighters and paramedics, they found a 60-year-old pedestrian had been struck by a pickup truck driving westbound on Tenth before fleeing the scene.

The pedestrian was flown to an area trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately available Sunday evening.
