Donald Trump’s modus operandi is to demean and threaten, even belittle those in his own party who do not fall in line.
This past week, he predicted chaos in the streets should he lose the election, sounding as if he would not discourage it.
Particularly now, we need a leader who models Abraham Lincoln, where friends and enemies north and south, and world leaders were awed by the spirit of reconciliation enshrined in his second inaugural address.
When this election is over, may the winner and “we the people” say with Lincoln: “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; … to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with the world, all nations.”
