SAN JOSE – A firefighter was hurt while battling a two-alarm brush fire in San Jose on Monday, authorities said.

San Jose fire Capt. Peter Caponio said the blaze was first reported about 2:50 p.m. near East Capitol Expressway and Tuers Road.

The fire charred at least five acres along Coyote Creek before it was brought under control about 4:45 p.m., Caponio said.

Caponio said a firefighter was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for a couple of hours, Caponio said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
