San Leandro: Alameda County firefighters tackle commercial fires

SAN LEANDRO — Alameda County firefighters were at the scene of two fires early Monday, authorities said.

Around 11 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of smoke and flames near Timothy Street, and arrived to find heavy smoke and fire from a Walmart building in the 1900 block of Davis Street.

Soon after, firefighters also responded to reports of a second fire at Hesperian Boulevard and Drew Street, and arrived aboard five engines and two trucks to find several storage units in flames spreading from a nearby garden center.

There were no reports of injuries, and a damage estimate was not immediately available early Monday.
