Southern California man arrested on suspicion of distributing child porn

A 51-year-old Chino Hills man described by authorities as a registered sex offender and convicted felon has been arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing “thousands of images of videos” of child pornography from his home, the sheriff’s department said.

Chong Tak Kim, 51, was arrested Thursday, May 21, after an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Crimes Against Children detail and its Hi-Tech division traced the distribution to Kim’s home in the 13000 block of Sunnyslope Drive, the department said.

A search warrant was served April 30 by members of the sheriff’s department along with FBI agents.

Investigators “determined Chong Tak Kim was responsible for distribution of thousands of images and videos of child pornography and was in possession of child pornography,” a sheriff’s news release said.

The California Megan’s Law website says Kim was convicted in 1998 of lewd or lascivious acts with a child aged 14 or 15 by an offender 10 or more years old than the victim.

Kim posted bail the same day he was arrested.
