Three wounded in Oakland shootings

OAKLAND — Three people were shot in less than three hours Friday  in East Oakland, authorities said Saturday.

All of them were expected to recover from their wounds.

Two men, one 31 and the other 36, were shot about 6:59 p.m. Friday in the area of the 1300 block of  71st Avenue.

The younger  man, who was wounded  more than once,  told police  he was driving a vehicle when he was shot by someone in another vehicle.  He was able to drive to a fire station  a few miles away where police were called and he received medical aid before being transported to a hospital.

The older man got his own transportation to a hospital. Authorities said he was not forthcoming with details about the shooting and police are trying to determine if he was also in the vehicle with the 31-year-old man or on the street when he was wounded.

No motive has been determined yet and no arrests have been made.

The other shooting happened about 4:32 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Fruitvale Avenue and left a 21-year-old woman wounded multiple times.

Police said the woman was with two men in a car when they were shot at by someone in another vehicle.  It was not clear if the woman was driving the vehicle or was a passenger.  The men were not hurt.

They were able to drive to the 300 block of East 18th street where police were called.

Police said the woman and men were not very cooperative  and could not provide a reason why someone would shoot at them. No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the 71st Avenue shooting and up to $5,000 in the other shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
