Firefighters are battling a four-alarm warehouse fire on Pier 45, along San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Warf.
First-responders have closed The Embarcadero to traffic from Powell to Taylor streets, and have evacuated the pier, according to the San Francisco Fire Department’s Twitter account. Coast Guard and police marine units responded to the waterfront to control boat traffic in the area.
No injuries have been reported.
Pier 45’s occupants include the beloved Musée Mécanique, an interactive museum of 20th-Century arcade games and mechanical machines. But the museum, in operation since 1933, appears to have been spared.
Can see and taste the hazy smoke across SF’s waterfront – we live a mile away from the Pier 45 fire. Much love and gratitude to our #SFFD firefighters for these HEROES saving lives – and the historic SS Jeremiah O’Brien. pic.twitter.com/9kOx0eJgyV
